IT WAS JUST ONE SHORT YEAR AGO THAT YOU DECIDED TO ESTABLISH A HOUSING DIVISION HERE AT BAY COUNTY SO WE COULD TAKE OVER OUR FUNDING AND GET THESE PROGRAMS AND THESE DOLLARS OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY. SO FOR A QUICK SNAPSHOT OF OUR SUCCESSES THIS YEAR, UH, COUNTY, THE HOUSING SERVICES DIVISION HERE IN OUR TEAM HAVE EXPENDED $20 MILLION SINCE WE WERE ESTABLISHED. THAT'S OF THE FIRST ALLOCATION THAT WE RECEIVED 28 MILLION. SO WE STILL HAVE EIGHT MILLION REMAINING IN HHR P ONE AND ALMOST SIX IN HHR P TWO. THE AVERAGE SALES PRICE FOR THE HOMES THAT WE ARE PARTNERING WITH OUR CLIENTS TO PURCHASE THIS $214,000. IN ADDITION, WE ARE TOLD THAT WE ARE PRIVATELY OWNED, WHICH IS TRUE, BUT THE JAMAICA LAKE ITSELF IS NOT JAMAICA, LIKE WAS IDENTIFIED BY JOSIE CR ASSISTANT PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR AS PART OF THE NATURAL FLOW FOR COUNTY DARING EDGE FOR THE STORM WATER FOR KELLY STREET, WHICH IS ONE MILE EAST OF US. AND THE LAKE THEN HAS ONLY ONE DRAINAGE PATH THROUGH OPEN COUNTY OPEN DRAINAGE DITCHES OVER CAROLINE LAKE AND THEN PIPE TO LAKE POWELL. THIS PATH BACKS UP QUICKLY, AND IN THE END, IT IS OUR NEIGHBORHOOD THAT IS THE PRIMARY RECIPIENT OF THE FLOODING. IN ADDITION, THE DEVELOPMENT THAT THE COUNTY HAS ALLOWED OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS WITHOUT IMPROVING THE DRAINAGE INFRASTRUCTURE IS WHY WE ARE HERE TODAY. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE FLOODING OCCURS, WE HAVE RAW SEWAGE THAT FLOWS FROM THE FLOODWATERS THROUGHOUT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD FROM THE FAILURE OF THE LIFT STATION ON THE NORTH END OF JAMAICAN LAKE IN ATTEMPT TO DO OUR PART. EARLIER THIS YEAR, WE PAID FOR AN ELEVATION SURVEY OF THE FLOOD PATH. AND BASED ON THOSE RESULTS, WE HAVE APPROVED A $220,000 HOH ASSESSMENT IN WHICH IN THE FALL WE ARE GOING TO ADD MORE OUTFLOWS AND DRAINAGE PIPES AND CATCH BASINS TO REMOVE THE WATER FROM OUR STREETS, DANISH DRAINAGE DITCHES AND PROPERTIES . WE'RE DREDGING THE DRAINAGE DITCHES TO PROVIDE A CONSTANT FLOW OF RUNOFF AND TO PREVENT STORMWATER ON OUR STREETS AND INTO OUR HOMES. HOWEVER, WE CANNOT DO THIS ALONE.
