ASSISTANT CHIEF DARRYL WISE. HE'S RETIRING AFTER 19 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE. EXCUSE ME, WITH BAY COUNTY FIRE RESCUE. AND GET THIS, AN EXTRAORDINARY 49 YEAR CAREER SERVING THE RESIDENTS OF BAY COUNTY. THAT'S AMAZING. CHIEF WISE BEGAN HIS FIRE SERVICE CAREER IN 1977 AS A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER WITH THE NORTHWEST SIDE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. IN 1979, HE JOINED THE PANAMA CITY AIRPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT, WHERE HE SERVED UNTIL 2007. CHIEF WISE JOINED BAY COUNTY FIRE RESCUE IN JUNE 2007 AS A BATTALION CHIEF AND WAS PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT CHIEF IN 2024. THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER, HE EARNED NUMEROUS CERTIFICATIONS,

OVER THE PAST 19 YEARS, CHIEF WISE HAS BEEN MUCH MORE THAN A RESPECTED LEADER. HE HAS SERVED AS A MENTOR, A TEACHER, COLLEAGUE, AND FRIEND TO COUNTLESS MEMBERS OF THE DEPARTMENT.
